Our Story

Our Story
We originally ‘met’ at a Sharks game back in 2008 - but it was a VERY brief introduction. At the time, Katie worked with Bryan’s cousin Andrew at the City of San Jose, whom had organized a large group outing to the hockey game. In a quick passing, Andrew introduced Bryan and Katie to one another. While Katie was smitten, she thought she would probably never see him again – but fate soon enough brought the two back together.
Coincidentally around this same time, Katie danced on a professional dance team with one of Bryan’s co-workers’ girlfriends. The connection between mutual friends was discovered, and soon thereafter the two were re-introduced; which was quickly followed by an"official" first date.
Throughout our relationship we have gone on many trips together – From closer-to-home get-aways like Monterey, Napa, and Sausalito, to further-from-home destinations like LA, Venice Beach, Santa Barbara, Seattle, Reno, and Lake Tahoe. But, we’ve had the most fun travelling to tropical destinations like Cancun and Punta Cana, and most recently on a cruise down the California coast to Mexico.
Traveling together and sharing these experiences has become part of our relationship. And we want to bring you along on our next adventure!
The Proposal
In April 2013, we went on a cruise to Mexico. We disembarked from San Francisco and headed south toward Mexico. The first few days of the trip were overcast, but by our first full day-at-sea we had finally crossed into Mexican waters - which meant sun and warm weather! We spent that whole day exploring the boat, and all the outdoor decks and pools.
After a long day of sun, it was time to head back to the cabin to get ready for dinner. Having never been on a long cruise before, the rough waters were getting to Katie. After a nap, a few Dramamine, [and a pep talk from Bryan] we were ready to go to dinner.
Katie was a little confused as to why Bryan wanted to be ready over an hour and a half early before our reservation for dinner...“It’s formal night" he said, "we need to take pictures.” We headed up to the very top deck to snap a few pictures against the sunset. Our personal paparazzi [Bryan’s parents] had us posing for a few different pics. Katie, still clueless and always up for pictures, thought nothing was out of the ordinary, until a little nervousness overtook Bryan. After he started talking, Katie knew something up, but still wasn't sure what. It wasn’t until he was down on one knee that Katie finally figured it out! He is proposing! Then she went into shock…He asked 'the question' and she just started smiling and crying. It wasn’t until he reminded her that she needed to answer him that SHE SAID YES!
